I have been wanting this palette for long time until I was able to buy the last one on the shelf at my local Sephora. For months now, it has constantly been sold out so I was so happy to finally get my hands on it. The main reason I wanted to try this palette was the unique selection of eyeshadow options. The price tag is on the more expensive scale retailing for $53USD from Tartes Website and around $82AUD.
The black and gold packaging is very sturdy with a huge full size mirror on the inside. I think the palette definitely earns some points for this reason as it can be really hard to try and apply makeup with tiny mirrors like in other palettes. The shiny gold also makes it feel very luxurious. Every eyeshadow is also embossed with the tarte branding and there is also a sweet-vanilla scent . This palette clips in to close, making this palette very travel friendly.
The Tarteist PRO Amazonian Clay Palette comes with 16 matte eyeshadows and 4 duochrome-micro shimmer shades. The color selection is absolutely perfect for me, and I can see myself wearing all of these shades. There is also a good variety of warm and cool shades to choose from. The lay out of the eyeshadows also make it easy to create looks with two warm rows and two cool shade rows.
The shades in this palette are:
First Row (warm): classic (cream), innocent (soft peach), whimsy (brick), smoked (dark brown), ethereal (bronze),
Second Row (cool): vintage (ivory), fierce (cool plum), no filter (purple mauve), vamp (deep plum), glam (champagne),
Third Row (warm): chic (pale pink), profesh (taupe), mod (deep cherry), drama (maroon), minx (shimmering mauve),
Fourth Row (cool): indie (greige), bold (light brown), edgy (chocolate), punk (black) and trendy (prismatic teal).
I was really happy with the pigment of the eyeshadows. You only need to lightly tap your brush in and I did make the mistake of going in abit heavy handed to begin with. A little seemed to go a long way. I found there is some fall out, however this is not an issue that bothers me personally.
The only problem I had with this palette was trying to blend the darker shades. When I applied the darker eyeshadows, I found they applied patchy and hard to blend out flawlessly. I wouldn’t consider myself a complete beginner but I am definitely not a professional make up artist either. I would say I am somewhere in the middle. These eyeshadows could be harder to work with if you are a beginner or easier if you’re very experienced. With that in mind, I wouldn’t recommend this palette if you are new to make up unless you are happy to start off simple and have some patience with blending.
With the exception of the dark shades, I really do enjoy using the Pro Amazonian Clay Palette. I am in love with the color selection and I generally like using this for more simple make up looks or not using too many colors at a time. (That is just my preference for creating looks with this palette). Most of the shades blend quite easily and are full of pigment.
The shimmers are also very soft and creamy with a beautiful light capturing effect. I found them easy to apply and loved the way ‘glam’ (second shimmer shade) looks on the lid and inner corner.
Each eyeshadow appears to have different ingredients, so if the ingredients is something important for you to read before buying the palette, you can view them all here. Tarte says these eyeshadows are formulated without:
- mineral oil
- sodium lauryl sulfates
What I love about the Tartiest PRO Amazonian Clay Palette:
- Travel Friendly
- Huge Mirror
- Amazing Color Selection
- Cruelty Free
- Beautiful Packaging
- Good Pigmentation
I do think this is an absolutely gorgeous palette. The colors are enough that you do not need to reach for another palette to create a stunning look. The price is expensive but you do get 20 beautiful shades. I will continue to use it and I love that I don’t have to worry about it opening during my travels.
Have you tried the Tarteist PRO Amazonian Clay Eyeshadow Palette for yourself? Id love to hear your thoughts!
