This July, Anastasia Beverly Hills expanded their make up line and released 30 New Matte Lipsticks. Of course, being a collector of the brand, I had to pick up a few shades for myself.
To start of with, the packaging is beautiful and classic (as always) featuring a glossy black exterior with the ABH logo on the side of the lipstick and also on the lid.
The complete shade range of this new matte lipstick collection is stunning, featuring lots of nudes to choose from, along with bold, bright, colorful and classic colors. There really is a shade for everyone and every occasion. I can honestly say, I want every one of the 30 shades.
Directly from the Anastasia Beverly Hills website, the new matte lipsticks retail for $18USD each which is slightly cheaper than their famous liquid lipsticks that retail for $20USD. They are also cruelty free and vegan which I know alot of you will be pleased to hear!
These lipsticks are definitely true to their color and what you see is what you get which I love. The shades that I picked up were Rosewood, Soft Pink, Ruby, Plumeria, Honey and Brandy.
The application of these lipsticks are abit on the dry side. They do tug away at the lips when applying so it will take a few goes to get to the true color unless you really press down. I highly recommend exfoliating your lips before applying so it doesn’t lift up any more dead skin in its process. The darker colors duri applied very well and did not turn out patchy like others I have worn in the past. I think the dryer formula actually helps the dark shades from becoming patchy and uneven.
Even though the application is dry, they don’t actually feel drying on the lips during the day. They generally feel quite comfortable on the lips given that I have exfoliated first.
These lipsticks aren’t completely transfer proof which isn’t a concern for me, but they do come close! You might find abit of transfer on your coffee cup, but nothing too drastic which is great.
I feel that the price is very reasonable, and if you live in Australia like myself, I would recommend buying these directly from the Anastasia Beverly Hills website. Sephora in Australia has a large mark up when they come in stock, so for example the ABH liquid lipsticks retail for $20usd directly from their website, whereas Sephora Australia sells them for $39aud. So if you’re waiting to get them in Australia, I would recommend saving some money like I did. The shipping is also incredibly fast to Australia by FedEx and my order arrived within the week.
My final thoughts are that these are definitely worth trying. If you have quite a lot shades on your wishlist, I suggest buying a few first to see if you like the formula. I will hopefully be adding more shades to my Anastasia Beverly Hills collection.
