Even though this palette was released in summer of 2016, the Modern Renaissance Eyeshadow Palette by Anastasia Beverly Hills is still going strong. The award winning palette is still a continuous sell out at Sephora, so lets answer some common questions and look at if it is worth the hype!
Thankfully, the palette is here to stay as its first permanent addition to the ABH collection. The Modern Renaissance Eyeshadow Palette currently retails for $42USD which can be purchased directly from the Anastasia Beverly Hills website and Sephora.
The packaging itself is simple and stunning. The hard top is a light mauve pink and velvet in texture. The back features a complete list of ingredients which I find helpful as not all eye shadow palettes have this. Unfortunately, the palette may not be travel friendly as there is no way to lock it in place. However, I would recommend that you keep the original box that is comes in so it does not open during your travels. The palette also has a mirror on the inner lid with a double sided eyeshadow brush.
This palette features 14 warm neutral and berry shades which are suitable for daytime and evening. The palette may look daunting for a beginner but you can rest assured, you can really step outside your comfort zone with this color selection. Out of the 14 shades, there are 11 matte eye shadows and 3 metallic. Here is a quick look at the colors this palette includes:
From top left to right:
“Tempera – Velvety beige with an ultra-matte finish
Golden Ochre – Earthy yellow with an ultra-matte finish
Vermeer – Iridescent shell with a metallic finish
Buon Fresco – Antique lavender with an ultra-matte finish
Antique Bronze – Metallic sable with a satin finish
Love Letter- Raspberry with an ultra-matte finish
Cyprus Umber- Dark coffee with an ultra-matte finish
Bottom row from right to left:
Realgar- Brick with an ultra-matte finish
Warm Taupe- Earthy gray with an ultra-matte finish
Venetian Red- Crimson with an ultra-matte finish
Red Ochre- Sienna with an ultra-matte finish
Primavera- shimmery gold dust with a metallic finish
Burnt Orange- deep orange with an ultra-matte finish”
First of all, I will mention that there was a bit of fall out from the metallic shades. Other than that, I am honestly very impressed with this palette. I found all of the eyeshadows to be highly pigmented and extremely easy to apply. Every color blends really well with each other and you can achieve a lot of different looks with the 14 shades. I did not find any patchiness which was also great. With all of this said, for me it does live up to the hype.
Personally, the eye shadows in this palette were not colors I would of previously picked for myself. But this makes me even happier that I own this palette.
When it comes to the value of this product, it is definitely a cheaper alternative to their single eyeshadows. Considering you are paying $3USD per eye shadow compared to the single eyeshadow pans retailing for $12USD, the price difference makes it a pretty good deal. If you are looking for good quality warm eye shadows, I think you will easily fall in love with this palette.
